The Morehead- Cain, the oldest merit scholarship program in the country, has announced the 2016 class of Morehead-Cain scholars. The annual program provides graduating high school seniors with a full scholarship to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as a variety of summer enrichment programs. Chosen solely on the basis of merit and accomplishment, the class of 2016 includes fifty scholars, including twenty-two from North Carolina, sixteen from fourteen other U.S. states, one student from Morocco, two from Turkey, three from the United Kingdom, and three from Canada. For more information and a complete list of this year's recipients, visit the Morehead-Cain Foundation Web site.

Creating Quality

The Wallace Foundation and BigThought, a Dallas-based nonprofit working to close the opportunity gap in education through a quality-improvement process called "creative learning," launched Creating Quality earlier this year to provide information, tools, and other resources for evaluating and improving the quality of arts education and creative learning in schools, afterschool programs, and summer learning opportunities. Designed to be a one-stop-shop for educators, artists, civic and community leaders, and policy makers, the site offers information and tools needed to conduct program evaluations and advocate for quality teaching and learning, as well as opportunities for visitors to contribute their own experiences and ideas about how to improve the quality of arts education.
